I have replaced both the main thermostat housing and the inline thermostat with genuine parts from TPS. There has been no difference whatsoever. Justreplaced my coolant temp sensor as it was either reading 90 deg or falling back to 50 deg, intermitant fault cured by changing the cts. Mine usually sits bang on 90 but last week when the outside temperature dropped to -8 degrees and I had the heaters on full the gauge did drop a little (the same as your pic). Sometimes I will be driving, as I did recently from Durham, NC to Washington, DC, and between 2-3 hours into the drive, the temperature sensor drops from the current temperature of 80F to -58F, and then corrects itself, slowly going from -58 to the outside temperature.
